If
you
already have an active ADSL service with another ISP, it is possible to
migrate this service to Gravity Internet for free (see right column).
Migration is the term used to move an existing broadband connection
from one ISP to another without any downtime
Please
note, that we are only able to
migrate customers who currently have self-install 'Wires Only' ADSL
services. It is not possible to migrate customers who have an
engineer-installed multi-user ADSL service.
The
migration works as follows:
- To
allow us to initiate migration, you
should
contact your existing ISP and ask them to provide you with a Migrations
Authority Code (MAC) Code. A MAC code is used to
authenticate
the
migration request from your current ISP to Gravity Internet. The use of
a MAC makes
migrations between ISPs simpler and quicker to validate enabling the
migration to be completed in a much shorter timescale than previously
possible. Please
make the ISP aware that you are migrating to
Gravity
Internet and do not want your ADSL service ceased (cancelled) until the
migration has been completed.
- Once
your order has been accepted and
[ongoing] payment has been processed, we will send a migration request
to BT. They will then send an e-mail to your existing ISP requesting
migration to Gravity Internet.
- Once this request has been
accepted, the order will be processed
and will be subject to approx 5-7 working day lead time. Your present
ADSL service will continue to be provided until the migration is
completed. We will send you information by e-mail to let you know the
precise date when the service will first be provided and all the
details needed to use and maintain your new Internet connection.
Important
points:
- We
cannot initiate a migration until you
provide us with your MAC Code.
- The
ADSL migration process does depend on
the co-operation of your existing ISP. In the event that a migration
cannot take place, you will need to arrange for your existing ISP to
cease (cancel) your ADSL service so that we can arrange for a new
connection to be configured on your line.
- Although a successful
migration should result in much less
downtime than a 'cease and reprovide', unfortunately we cannot provide
any guarantees as to how successful the migration process will be or
how long your ADSL will be out of operation during the migration.
- In
the event that the request to migrate
is rejected by your existing service provider, BT or Gravity Internet
cannot provide any arbitration between yourself and your existing ISP.

FREE Migrations
We can offer free migration from your existing supplier if your MAC
code begins with:
LLU Migrations
Migrations from LLU providers will incur a £45 fee.
The migration requires a full cease and reprovision of ADSL on the
line, which BT charge the full activation cost in such cases. These are
MAC codes that begin with:
